Ewha Womans University Medical Research Institute

Medicine in the 21st century transforms to be a multidisciplinary science via consilience of different fields of studies and focused gathering or segmentation. Ewha Medical Research Institute (EMRI) is home to all laboratory-based, translational and clinical research at Ewha Womans University College of Medicine. The multidisciplinary approach combines expertise from our various departments and throughout Ewha Womans Univeristy. EMRI occupies approximately 1,410m² of laboratory space which includes modern animal facilities, electron microscopy room, laboratories of molecular biology, electrophysiology, immunology, microbiology and morphology. There are several research centers in EMRI supported through national research grants - Ewha Research Center for Control and Prevention of Women’s Cancers, Tissue Injury Defence Research Center, Ewha Center for Vaccine Evaluation & Safety, and Ewha Clinical Trial Center. In addition to these, EMRI oversees 20 research centers for cell therapies, tissue engineering, bioengineering, environmental health, aging and development, cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic diseases, degenerative neuropathy, gender medicine, fetal programming, endometriosis, genomics, mental health and osteonecrosis.

EMRI is now preparing a take-off by securing large scale research grants and world-class scientists with the goal to discover novel mechanisms determining health and disease and to enhance international competitiveness.
